During the mixed bullfight that took place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Inca (Mallorca), Manuel Escribano left through the “Great Door” after cutting two ears, while French rejoneadora Léa Vicens made history by becoming the first woman to face and triumph against a bull from the legendary Miura breeding ranch.
The return of bullfighting to the island of Mallorca was marked by a varied and attractive lineup featuring rejoneadora Léa Vicens and matadors Manuel Escribano and Jesús Enrique Colombo, facing well-presented Miura bulls.
Léa Vicens performed a first faena of great quality against an excellent Miura bull. Unfortunately, imprecise use of the steel blades deprived her of a triumph that seemed imminent. For her second performance, the French horsewoman received her bull “a porta gayola” and delivered a round of banderillas with great elegance. She cut one ear with strong petition for the second.
Manuel Escribano imposed his serenity against his first opponent, a noble animal lacking strength. After superb “verónicas,” the Sevillian bullfighter mainly used his left hand to draw a tempered performance that earned him an ear. Facing his second, more complicated bull, he managed to temper the charges and concluded with “bernardinas,” thus securing his exit through the Great Door with a second ear.
Jesús Enrique Colombo had less success. He first faced a weak bull without transmission, then a reluctant final specimen that constantly sought escape, making artistic expression impossible.
This bullfight will be remembered as the one where Léa Vicens wrote a page of history by triumphing against the formidable Miura bulls, which are renowned for their ferocity and traditionally reserved for men in the world of bullfighting.
